Rhythm in the details.

Creative work, careful listening, and a lot of curiosity—both on screen and under the keycaps.

I’m SEApodEErman, though people in osu! may know me as Mahiru Shiina. For more than four years, I’ve spent a lot of my creative time around beatmaps and hitsounds: listening closely, shaping rhythm into play, and caring about the small choices that make a map feel coherent.

I’ve also contributed as a custom mapper for Corsace Closed 2023, Malaysian 5 Digit Amateur Cup, Mekakucity Showdown, and osu! Malaysia Tournament in 2023 and 2024. Tournament mapping appeals to me as a way for me to experience the collaborative process of creating something within a shared vision as well as experimenting with different styles and techniques.

Away from the editor, I’m a huge custom keyboard nerd. I enjoy the mix of technical choices and personal expression: layout, sound, feel, and all the tiny decisions that turn a keyboard into something distinctly yours. Whether I’m working with rhythm, audio, or keyboards, I’m usually chasing the same thing: a unique way for me to express myself.

Kotone — Kagome

A personal favourite of mine, really happy with the end result due to how the song stuck with me.

takehirotei — Haiboku no Altra Vita

I went all-out on hitsounds, choosing samples to mirror the song’s multi-genre shifts. I also solo-mapped the Hard and contributed sections to the Easy, Expert, and top difficulty.

Kawayo by The Flying Penguin

A 65% CNC aluminum board I won at MYMK 2025, with a brass Toblerone rear weight. Built with Kailh BCP switches, GMK Jamon clone keycaps, Typeplus stabilizers, and a custom-cut POM plate using PCBSnap mounting.

A little rhythm. A little circuitry.

Most of my interests meet somewhere between creative instinct and technical tinkering.

01

Rhythm / structure

Beatmapping

Shaping music into playable patterns with strong emphasis on my idealogy: The more you f*ck around, the more you are going to find out.

02

Audio / texture

Hitsounds

Giving a map another layer of expression through carefully placed sounds while enjoying the experimentation with samples.

03

Hardware / feel

Custom keyboards

Exploring the tiny decisions that change how a board looks, sounds, and feels. From layout to the final keypress.

04

Inspiration / mood

Anime & creative things

A soft spot for anime-inspired aesthetics and the creative details that make digital spaces feel personal.
